We proudly present the artistry of Naoki, an Oahu-based gyotaku artist. Naoki views each gyotaku as a window into the underwater world he sees when diving in Hawaii’s beautiful ocean waters. His art features fish in true-life color and in compositions that reflect how they are found in nature. For this print, Naoki features ʻŌʻio, which is the Hawaiian word for bonefish. An apt description of this fish that has a plethora of bones. It can be eaten raw or cooked. The raw flesh is often scraped to make a paste that is then seasoned for eating as is or cooked as fish patties. No matter which way you have it, it is ono!
